The Autoimmune Protocol (AIP)

The Autoimmune Protocol uses a combination of nutritional therapy and lifestyle modifications to help reduce systemic inflammation and regulate your immune system so you can begin your healing journey. You will temporarily remove foods that may be contributing to your condition and replace them with nutrient dense, delicious foods that will help to reduce inflammation and bring your body back into balance.

In addition to diet, we will work to restore your gut health, optimize sleep, develop stress management techniques and a positive mindset. All imperative to your healing journey.

Living with an autoimmune condition is hard.  Flareups can be unpredictable, and you may feel sick and exhausted on a regular basis.  You can no longer enjoy your regular activities and your life has been turned upside down.

Most doctors offer little information other than what medications you can take to manage you symptoms.

Friends and family want to help, but they just don’t understand.

The information on the web is overwhelming and conflicting.

You need guidance and support.

You want your life back.

The Autoimmune Protocol has helped countless people suffering with autoimmune conditions do just that. 

You will temporarily remove foods that may be contributing to your condition and replace them with nutrient dense, delicious foods that will help to reduce inflammation and bring your body back into balance.

  • Dairy
  • Grains
  • Legumes
  • Nuts and Seeds
  • Eggs
  • Industrialized Oils
  • Night Shade Vegetables
  • Certain Spices
  • Alcohol

These foods are eliminated because they can include compounds that cause systemic inflammation and increased intestinal permeability (aka Leaky Gut).  Research shows that leaky gut and gut dysbiosis (too many bad gut bugs) have been found in every autoimmune disease in which they have been studied.

The typical AIP protocol lasts for 90 days.  After 90 days you should begin to feel a lot better.  For many people symptoms and flareups are minimized, or completely go away.  At this point you will  slowly reintroduce these foods back into your diet to see if they invoke any type of reaction.  You will then know that particular food is not right for you.

Even though the AIP protocol is restrictive, you will still be able to eat a lot of delicious foods.  This includes quality proteins, vegetables, and healthy fats.  The idea is to feed your body the most nutritionally dense foods possible to help set your body up for healing.  There are even many “treats” included in the protocol.
